There are many ways you can create and manage a budget digitally instead of having to manually keep track of earnings and expenses. Having a digital app or software which can link to your financial information (bank account, investments, bill pay) can make the process of setting and sticking with a budget simpler and more rewarding.
Digital Budgeting
Digital budgets allow you to:
- Identify your expenses by categories so you know how much you are spending within each
- Create a budget that can be shared with and used by your family, spouse, or partner
- Set spend thresholds in certain categories and be notified if you exceed your budget in a category
- Be alerted to services or subscriptions that should be canceled due to lack of use or high cost
Many of these apps and services are free, but some require a paid subscription. A paid app may hold you more accountable to using it and offer a better user experience. Whichever app you decide to use, make it a priority to spend time learning the features and setting up the integrations so that you can get on top of your budgeting immediately.
